We were so glad that it worked out to stop and see Amy and Jeremy and family as we passed through Kansas on our trip to Arkansas. We stayed a night with them on the way down, then again on the way back.

Another interesting stop on the way down was at Carthage, Missouri. This picture is of the Jasper County Courthouse there - a very magnificent stone building that was completed in 1895. I have never been a Civil War buff, but the history in this town regarding the Civil War was fascinating as this area is where some important battles of that war were fought. We went through the Civil War Museum there and if you ever get the chance to see it, don't pass it up.

This was taken near a little town where we stopped for lunch in the middle of the Ozarks. This is what the Ozarks look like - rolling hills covered with deciduous trees for miles and miles. The roads were very curving and hilly.

We took a walk in the area behind Jeannie and Lindy's home and came across this neat old barn.

Karen and Dave, you need to take a trip to DC and spend a couple weeks touring the battlefields at Gettysburg, Antietam, Fredricksburg, Bull Run, etc. and you'd become a Civil War buff. Unfortunately we didn't get much into the Revolutionary War sites when we lived there but I'm sure they are just as interesting. We could go together and you folks could be our chauffers and we could maybe provide a B & B in the area!
I'm so glad you have a blog. I need to check it more often. It was very interesting to see the scenic pictures, and picking up acorns...how quaint! Monte and Poppy are a darling couple. The fabric all over the floor...Definitely creative. I have no doubt but that it'll turn into something wonderful...under your guidance! Love, Bonnie
