No turtles have hatched yet, but when we hold an egg up to a bright light, we can see that there definitely is a baby in there! Can you see the outline of the turtle shell and it's little legs and a long tail off to the right? (It is a little easier to see when actually looking at the egg than in the picture.) We could see one little foot waving around inside - kind of like seeing a human baby on an ultrasound! It didn't really look like it was outgrowing the egg and anxiously trying to get out - so maybe it will be awhile yet. I think I will try to figure out a way to keep the container a little bit warmer - that may make them grow faster. They say not to keep it too warm or you will cook the poor things. Maybe we can rig up a lightbulb to warm them up a bit. Oh yes, one egg we looked at obviously is empty - nothing shadowy at all in it. We havent' dug them all up to check them out, obviously, but it doesn't look like we will have a 100% hatch rate. Until the next turtle report...

We have been wondering how they were doing, thanks for the update.
Hey Karen,
Thanks so much for the update. The boys and I had fun looking at the little turtle. It was a great distraction for awhile. :)
